Am I eligible to apply?
Do you have a burning desire to train as an actor? Have you applied for drama school or conservatoire training and been unsuccessful? If you intend to pursue a career as an actor or gain a place at drama school, then theRTproject is for you.
Whatever your age and background we nurture actors and theatre-makers providing them with the skills and confidence to thrive in the industry.
Join us on a journey as we bring our original performance work to audiences whilst providing you with tools to unlock the gateway to professional training.
At minimal cost we can provide the support necessary to approach the audition process with confidence, knowing that you have benefited from the advice and training of industry professionals.
In order to apply for theRTproject you will need to:
Be over the age of 18.
Not have received any formal post-18 training at an accredited drama school.
Have a commitment to acting as a career goal.
Commit to the full course (one academic year) and pay a monthly membership of £99 to cover administration fees. Bursaries available.
Want to enter the industry or intend to apply for drama school courses, either undergraduate and postgraduate.
how do i apply?
Please apply via the online application form using the link below. After we have received and processed your application and if you have been successful you will be invited to audition.
The deadline for applications is 30th October 2026, but early application is advised to ensure a place in the company.
Audition date is the 1st of November 2026.
FOR YOUR AUDITION YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO PERFORM A 2 MINUTE MONOLOGUE.
HOW TO self-tape?
- Shoot horizontally - record your video in landscape.
- Stay in frame - record in mid shot, head and shoulders.
- Keep your background clear - film in front of a neutral background.
- Pay attention to your environment - ensure there is enough light and that there is no background noise.
- Know your lines - avoid reading from a script.
- Dress for success - avoid costumes, we are keen to see you not the character.
- Practice, Practice, Practice.
- Submit a single unedited video.
- INTRODUCE YOURSELF - tell us your name and a bit about yourself (1 min).
- YOUR MONOLOGUE (2 min) - instructions in next section.
how do i prepare my monologue?
One Monologue. Two Minutes.
For your self-tape you will need a monologue lasting around two minutes. This can be from a contemporary/modern play or classical (Shakespeare/ Jacobean). We honestly have no preference.
Look for a speech where the character is near to your age.
Something you connect to and like.
Something you enjoy performing and where you can show what you do best.
Speeches, both modern and classical, can be gender free - so choose something that you feels right for you!
Perform it in your own accent and voice. Don’t put on an ‘acting voice’.
Read the whole play.
Learn your lines.
We just want to share your best work with us.
Your speech doesn’t need to be any longer than 2minutes maximum
what happens at Recall Auditions?
The session will begin with an informal warm up workshop, followed by an exploration of physical work and classical text.
The session will be half a day. It’s aim is to help us to get know you better and for you to get to know us a little better. We will be looking to see if you are a team player and willing to experiment and put yourself out there. All you have to do is simply take part and try to enjoy it!

what happens next?
Successful candidates from recall stage will form our 2026/2027 Acting cohort.
You will be required to attend in person rehearsals and training days on Sundays from November to May until performances of Dignity in May 2027.
November - December workshops on auditions and a scratch performance of Antigone for a performance at the Rose theatre.
Then rehearsals January to May for our production of Dignity.
You will be required to pay a monthly membership of £99 to cover administration fees. Bursaries available.
